After an absence of two years, Outpost 79 returned to the stage over Thanksgiving weekend. For Chris and Angel it was their first show with the band, and in both cases they hadn’t performed in quite a long time, so it was a big night for everyone. The location was changed to Shakers Pub in Oakdale due to Covid-19 concerns, and numerous other revisions occurred – seems like some things never change – but by showtime it was Led Co, Graces of Chaos, OP79, and Radium filling the show. A contrast in styles, as you had a cover band, a metal outfit, the solid rock of OP79, and the more grungy sound of the headliners, making for a diverse but solid evening. The night saw the stage debut of “Ashes and Smoke”, which had been over two years in the making especially after its inclusion on Whiskey and Iron earlier this year, and of new song “Gypsy in the Sky”, a new song that was created by Rob and Angel with lyrics and leads by Chris and Jay.
